Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ - The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University is pleased to invite applications for a full-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure track faculty member at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2019. This is a fiscal-year position with the History faculty and is located on the Tempe campus. Subsequent annual renewal is desired, contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university.
The School seeks applicants committed to outstanding teaching and effective program administration. The successful candidate will primarily serve SHPRS' top-ranked and innovative History MA program. The program’s teaching obligations include foundational online graduate courses in History such as historical methods, the Global History core seminar, and electives in the candidate’s area of expertise. The position's program coordination duties include student admissions/advising, program planning, curriculum development, engagement with the scholarship of online teaching and learning, and participation in SHPRS’ faculty governance.
The successful candidate will also be expected to liaise with university faculty and administrators and external community partners as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in History or a related field with an emphasis in Global History or a non-Western field by time of appointment.
• Evidence of successful History teaching at the university level.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience teaching in an online environment
• Experience with program and curriculum management
• Track record of academic publishing and grant funding
• Ability to effectively communicate in multiple formats to multiple audiences (e.g. social. media, conference presentations, K12 outreach)
• Demonstrated success meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities
