Albright College seeks a Visiting NEH Endowed Chair in the Humanities for the 2019-2020 academic year, with option to extend through the 2020-2021 academic year. Applicants must come from one of the humanities disciplines (history, religious studies, philosophy, literature in any language) with a preferred focus on contemporary philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, philosophy of technologies, or epistemology, broadly conceived.
The College has a strong commitment to interdisciplinarity; faculty members have the opportunity to teach in their areas of expertise as well as contribute to other departments and programs on campus. The NEH position will be housed in the philosophy department, but the strongest candidate will also be able to connect to other programs on campus.
Responsibilities for the position include teaching two courses per semester, developing co-curricular opportunities for students, facilitating conversations among faculty in the successful candidate’s areas of expertise, and being available to guest lecture in other courses. Funding for professional development and research is available.
Rank is open, and junior scholars are encouraged to apply. Applicants should hold a Ph.D., teaching experience including evidence of successful teaching, and have a record of scholarship with a critical focus in any area in contemporary philosophy of science, as referenced above.
