The Department of History at Eastern Oregon University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of History.
Appointment begins September 16, 2019.
The position is a one-year sabbatical replacement.
The History Department of Eastern Oregon University seeks applications from scholars working on topics in the history of the American West, broadly defined, from the colonial era through the present.
The position will begin Fall of 2019 and is a one-year sabbatical replacement at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
The History faculty seeks a colleague with a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and an active research agenda who can offer upper-division courses in the history of the American West (subfields open) as well as U.S. history surveys and history methods courses.
A Ph.D. in History from a regionally accredited institution is required by the start date (September 2019).
Training and teaching experience in the history of the American West is desirable.
Strong commitment to access, equity, and diversity, including the ability to work effectively with under-served and under-prepared college students.
Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check.
Valid work authorization documents required.
Undergraduate teaching experience and online teaching experience are preferred, as the position will require online and on-campus teaching.
Demonstrated teaching skills and active scholarship are imperative, and candidates with specializations in any subfield(s) of the American West are especially encouraged to apply.
