Term Lecturer in South Asian History

The Department of History at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a one year .875 FTE term teaching faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in South Asian history, specialization and periodization open, to start September 1, 2019. The successful candidate will teach seven courses over three semesters (SFU operates year-round, with Fall, Spring, and Summer terms). These courses will include Fundamentals in World History (HIST 130), A Brief History of Modern India (HIST 243), Colonialism and Nationalism in South Asia (HIST 244); Islamic India (HIST 252), and Development, Aid and Difference in Historical Perspective (HIST 358). Two additional courses will be assigned by the chair to be determined by the successful candidate's areas of specialization. As a member of the SFU Faculty Association (SFUFA) and the Department of History team of faculty, the Lecturer may also be expected to participate in the life of the unit.
The ideal candidate will have a completed Ph.D., in South Asian history or a related field and university teaching experience.

This is an entry-level term position. Only those holding or those eligible to be promoted to the rank will be considered. The position is subject to availability of funding.
