We invite applications for a full-time permanent position as Lecturer in Social Policy. Social policy is taught by VUW's sociology programme as a minor within the BA degree. We are seeking to appoint someone able to contribute to growing our social policy programme.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in social policy/sociology or a relevant field, demonstrated excellence in teaching and a developing research profile appropriate to their level of appointment.
The area of research specialisation is open; we particularly welcome applicants who bring something new to our programme. Teaching includes taking our 300-level social policy course on social inequality, developing a 200-level social policy course and contributing to our first-year sociology courses. Applicants are encouraged to include draft syllabi for the 300 and 200 level courses with their application. The successful applicant will also be expected to supervise Honours projects and MA and PhD research.
Applications should include a letter of interest addressing teaching and research goals and a curriculum vitae with the name of three referees.
