The History Department at Queensborough Community College seeks a talented teacher, researcher and scholar to fill a vacant position in European History from (500 to the present). The successful candidate will teach courses in Medieval History, Early European History and Modern European History. Ability and experience teaching American History surveys desired. Research field is open, with a preference in women’s history. Faculty members are encouraged to develop specialized courses in their own field of expertise; to participate in departmental and college responsibilities including curriculum development and grant applications; and provide mentoring and advisement to students. Successful candidate is required to perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise, and share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. For Instructor title: documented progress towards completion of a Doctorate is required for continued appointment. For Assistant Professor title: continued scholarly activities required for tenure and promotion. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. Position to start in Fall 2019.

The History Department at Queensborough Community College seeks applicants interested in a career in an institution that promotes excellence in teaching as well as scholarly research. QUALIFICATIONS
For Assistant Professor:
Ph.D. degree in Medieval, Early Modern or Modern European History. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior teaching experience in an undergraduate academic setting
Ability and experience teaching American History Surveys
Experience teaching in a community college and/or teaching diverse student populations
Experience using instructional technology
An innovative perspective and non-traditional approach to pedagogy
