PROFESSIONAL WRITING: Tenure or Clinical Track Assistant Professor
Aurora University is an independent, comprehensive institution founded in 1893 offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Our two campuses are located in Aurora, Illinois and on the shores of Geneva Lake in Wisconsin. Additionally, we have an Educational Center in Woodstock, Illinois. We seek talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. As a private institution, Aurora University expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities related to the college experience. To facilitate this highly interactive faculty/student relationship, the typical teaching load is three 4 credit-hour courses per semester and student advising is supported by professional staff. Evidence of successful teaching, or a strong potential for successful teaching, is required for all positions. Undergraduate faculty share in the delivery of the general education program, most often by teaching within the university's interdisciplinary core.

The Aurora University Dunham School of Business and Public Policy invites applications for a Tenure- or Clinical-Track Assistant Professor of Professional Writing with appointment to begin in August 2019. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate coursework in Business & Professional Writing, Technical Writing, Journalism, PR/ Advertising Writing, Grant Writing, and Digital/Print/Social Content Writing. Teaching at the graduate-level may also be required. The position may also entail the teaching of interdisciplinary courses for Aurora University's General Education program. A faculty member in this role will also advise a professional writing-related student organization, mandatory student professional writing internship placement, and champion the growth and enrollment in the undergraduate Professional Writing major.
As participating members of the faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the activities of the School, including assessment, service, and mentoring. Professional activity as defined by the faculty appointment is required.
Teaching and work experience are highly valued. Prior higher education teaching experience preferred. A PhD or MFA in Rhetoric or Composition (emphasis in Professional Writing) or related discipline is required for tenure-track appointment (A.B.D. candidates will be considered). A MA or MS in Professional Writing or related discipline with significant industry and professional experience is required for clinical-track appointment.
