The Program in Latino/a Studies in the Global South at Duke University (LSGS) invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral fellowship, renewable for a second year, to begin in August 2019.
We seek interdisciplinary scholars with a comparative, innovative, and transnational approach, grounded in U.S. Latina, Latino, and Latinx literary history. Research interests may include any––or a combination––of the following areas: the nineteenth-century translinguistic Americas; comparative U.S. literary history; Spanish as an “American” language; print culture and the global south; historical agency and memory; ethnoracial formations; gender and sexuality; citizenship; empire; migratory flows; hemispheric studies; and related topics. LSGS is particularly interested in scholars who move beyond traditional studies of communities bounded by a singular national origin.
The successful candidate will be housed in the Department of Romance Studies and receive a salary of $48,000, plus benefits; teach two courses per year; pursue research; and participate in the development of public and intellectual programming in Latino/a Studies as well as the Department of Romance Studies at Duke. To receive full consideration, please submit the following application materials by 15 April 2019:
(i) letter of intent;
(ii) curriculum vitae;
(iii) research proposal;
(iv) outline of possible course offerings;
(v) a workshop proposal based on research;
