Lecturer in Modern Hebrew

The Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at Washington University in St. Louis announces an opening in Hebrew language instruction to be filled at the rank of Lecturer beginning in the fall semester of 2019. We are seeking a professional language teacher with a serious commitment to teaching languages for academic purposes while developing pedagogical materials and incorporating technological innovations into the curriculum. This is a full-time appointment, which includes the equivalent of at least 12 credit hours of teaching per semester and other duties associated with the language program. Renewals are contingent on successful reviews.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a Ph.D., but those with a Master’s degree and language teaching experience are also encouraged to apply. Native or near-native fluency in Hebrew and English, foreign language instruction experience, and an oral proficiency based approach are required.
Salary and rank commensurate with experience.
