The History program in the School of Humanities on the Gulf Park Campus of the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a one-year, full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor or Instructor (depending on qualifications) position in modern European history, specialty open. Scholars with a secondary field in Latin American history and/or secondary education history/social studies are especially encouraged to apply. To begin in August 2019. Responsibilities will include a 4/4 load teaching undergraduate surveys of world and European history and upper-level undergraduate courses in field of specialization. Teaching faculty are encouraged to maintain an active research agenda. Promise of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service is expected. Salary is commensurate with terminal degree, qualifications, and experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualification is an M.A. in History.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in History and a record of publication and scholarship, excellence in teaching (may include online), and commitment to diversity and service.
