Such resources include the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), on campus and world-wide; the faculty, especially in the Department of Theology; the Woodstock Theological Library; the Berkeley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs; the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life; the Kennedy Institute of Ethics; the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate; the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service; the Center for Clinical Bioethics; and the Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding; as well as other religious, identity, and regional studies programs and institutes across the University’s several schools. The University’s on-going engagement with its historical connection to American slavery, which has received considerable national attention for the last several years, offers another point of engagement for the program, as also the University’s situation in the city of Washington as the nation’s capital, a crossroads for international activity, and the home to the USCCB.
