Kinder Junior Research Fellow in Atlantic History

The Rothermere American Institute, St Peter’s College, and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at the University of Missouri seek to appoint a stipendiary Junior Research Fellow in Atlantic History. This post is intended to provide a promising early career scholar with a congenial environment for the development of his/her research and academic administration beyond the doctoral level.
As well as producing exceptional research at postdoctoral level for publication in books and articles, on any topic in Atlantic history, the Fellow will assist the Kinder Institute in the program development and delivery of Missouri’s soon to be launched MA in Atlantic History and Politics and its summer study abroad component in Oxford. The Fellow will also be expected to assist in the teaching of history to undergraduates at St. Peter’s College up to 3 hours per week.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD/DPhil (either completed or near to completion) in Atlantic history, broadly defined, with a preference for those working in the 18th and/or 19th century. Further attributes required of the successful applicant include the potential for effective teaching and assistance with MA program development, as well as plans for post-doctoral research of high quality.
The post is fixed-term for 3 years from 1 October 2019.
