Department of History invites applications for a position as Assistant Professor in the Study of Religions to be filled by August 1st 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants must have a Ph.D.-degree in the study of religions ('comparative religion'), and document research expertise in a field of specialization as well as a potential for teaching in this as well as in other fields, since they must be ready to teach courses in additional disciplines within the Study of Religions, courses relevant to the BA and MA curricula of the Study of Religions at SDU. The successful applicant is expected to take an active part in the research and colleagial environment at the section of the Study of Religions, including study-of-religion research collaboration, course development, and, in due time, various forms of administration.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
An assistant professorship is a 3-year position, and employment stops automatically by the end of the period. It applies for all positions that they will only cover teaching requirements from related areas, including interdisciplinary teaching activities and Cand. Negot. courses.
To qualify for the position you must have completed a PhD-degree by the application deadline.

- Complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position

Application and all appendices must be in Danish, English or one of the Scandinavian languages. Please always include a copy of original diploma/certificates.
We only accept files in pdf-format no more than 10 MB per file. In case you have more than one file per field you need to combine the pdf-files into a single file, as each field handles only one file. We do not accept zip-files, jpg or other image files. All pdf-files must be unlocked and allow binding and may not be password protected.
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the committee will assess whether you are qualified to be an Assistant Professor. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. An interview may form part of the overall assessment of the applicants’ qualifications.
If the application does not meet the requirements mentioned above, the Faculty of Humanities may reject your application without further notice. Applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.
