The Department of History at The University of Texas at San Antonio, a recognized, Hispanic Serving Institution, invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in European history beginning Fall 2019. We are especially interested in applicants whose research and teaching contributes to the department theme of “Empires, States, and Borders” including borderlands; gender/sexuality; war and society; migration; digital history/humanities and/or GIS, and projects that link together Europe with global historical movements. All time periods will be considered.
Responsibilities include a 2:2 teaching load of undergraduate and masters-level courses related to the area of expertise, serving on Departmental committees; conducting an active program of research that contributes to scholarship in the field, and university service. Applicants must have completed the Ph.D. by the start of the appointment.
Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2018; and complete application must include 1.) a letter of application that addresses your interest in and qualifications for the position; 2.) a current curriculum vita; 3.) three letters of references; and 4.) a concise teaching philosophy statement (1-2 pages).
