Samford University’s Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Latin America in the Department of History within the Howard College of Arts and Sciences. This is a tenure-track full-time faculty 9-month appointment and will begin in August 2019.
Qualified candidates will hold an earned Ph.D. in History. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated record of outstanding teaching and proven research agenda and publications. Candidates should be outstanding-scholars, who are committed to innovative pedagogy, who are active researchers and who enjoy mentoring and advising students. Specialty open with a preference for a broadly trained historian of Latin America with additional teaching interests in other fields, including Europe or Native Americans. Candidates should be enthusiastic about contributing to a two-semester western ideas/core text sequence or in the freshman writing program. In addition, the successful candidates will teach a mix of introductory and upper-division history courses.
