~The School of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of U.S. History, specializing in Women’s and/or Gender History, any period. PhD is required.
The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly promise, a strong record in undergraduate teaching, and a commitment to professional academic service. The candidate will be able to offer lower-division general courses in American history, including a survey of U.S. women’s history, and upper-division topics courses and graduate seminars in the applicant’s area of specialization. The teaching load is 2:2. UT Dallas is a dynamic, growing Carnegie R1 doctoral institution with a diverse student body (ca 29,000) and a strong research faculty.
Appointment will begin August 1, 2019. The succesful candidate will have a strong commitment to publishing, undergraduate and graduate teaching, interdisciplinary education and research, and professional academic service. The School offers interdisciplinary graduate programs (MA, PhD) built on three interrelated areas: Literature, Historical Studies and Visual and Performing Arts. The undergraduate program offers degrees in Literary Studies, History, Philosophy, and Visual and Performing Arts. The academic philosophy of the School emphasizes the fusion of critical with creative thinking as well as linkages among various modes of knowledge and artistic expression. We are particularly interested in candidates who can make connections with one or more of the School’s research Centers and Institutes.
