The School of Art, Architecture + Design at Indiana University seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic academic and/or design professional specializing in architecture, architectural design and/or urban design to begin August 1, 2019. The holder of the position will occupy the Michael A. and Laurie Burns McRobbie Bicentennial Professorship in Architecture, and will be hired at the rank of associate or full professor with tenure.
The primary location of this position is Columbus, IN, with the secondary location being Bloomington, IN.
SoAAD (https://soaad.indiana.edu) is dedicated to developing a faculty body composed of diverse scholars and practitioners. We seek a forward-thinking colleague who wishes to be part of an innovative, founding program in architecture and who is committed to interdisciplinary engagement and exploration of the convergence of Architecture, Design and Art. We seek a candidate who will provide collegial leadership in a team-based environment. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to educate emerging leaders in architecture.
Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Faculty position in architectural design studio instruction and one other area of expertise related to the profession.
- Assist with curriculum development.
- Collaborates with the Director, Associate Director, and other faculty and staff.
- Assists in the management and preparation for the NAAB accreditation process.
- Assists with identifying strong candidates for visiting scholars/designers.
- Pursues an active program of research/creative activity.
- Develop a scholarly agenda and well as participate in academic, community, and professional service.
Qualifications: All candidates should have:
Applicants from the field of architecture and/or urban design are welcome. Qualified candidates are expected to have a terminal degree in architectural design or urban design: Masters of Architecture, Doctorate of Architecture, Master of Urban Design or equivalent by the start date of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching.
- Professional experience in architecture or related field.
- Demonstrated record of leadership and mentorship.
Tenured Position; Salary commensurate with experience.
