Assistant Professor – Three Year Term Position:
Position: The Department of History at Northern Michigan University invites applications for a three-year term position at the rank of assistant professor, to begin August of 2019. This is a campus-based position.
Duties and Responsibilities: Course load will be 12 credits per semester. Teaching responsibilities will the World History survey, historical methodology and historiography as well as course developed in the candidate’s specialty for at least one of our introductory-level courses (variable topic course entitled “Turning Points in History,” “History and Popular Culture,” and “Globalization and You”) and the upper level courses.
Minimum Qualifications: ABD with a Master’s Degree in history or closely related regional or world studies with a non-western doctoral specialization; a record of effective college teaching in History; and the ability to teach the Asian history survey course.

Additional Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. in history or closely related regional or world studies to be in hand by start date, a pre-modern field, ability to teach environmental history, a record of excellence in teaching, and experience with innovative pedagogies.
