Associate Professorship in Visual Anthropology 988039
|Institution Type:||College / University|
The Department of Anthropology, part of the larger School of Culture and Society, invites applications for the position of associate professor of visual anthropology.
The associate professorship is a permanent, full-time position, commencing on 1 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Place of employment: Moesgaard, Moesgård allé, 8270 Højbjerg, Denmark.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of, and training within, the general field of social/cultural anthropology and a core research expertise within visual anthropology, in particular relating to the utilisation of audio-visual methods in data collection, analysis and dissemination. A research focus on the shaping of particular forms of knowledge and authority would be particularly welcome. This includes the knowledge systems prevalent in the ethnographic field itself, as well as the ways of knowing allowed by ethnographic film or other visual engagements.
The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, developing and teaching anthropology at the department at BA, MA and PhD level, with a key focus on our popular MA track specialisation in visual anthropology. In addition, the successful applicant must be able to teach other general courses in anthropology (see language requirements/expectations below). We emphasise the importance of maintaining a dedicated and respectful relationship between staff and students, so the ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate and exemplify their commitment to participatory teaching initiatives and student involvement as part of their teaching portfolio.
Apllication deadline: 1. september 2018
