Job Description
The DU History Department offers history courses to undergraduate students in a variety of different geographical areas and periods, taught by our eleven faculty members. Our classes are writing and reading intensive with rigorous in-class discussions, and opportunities to participate in hands-on historical research, service-learning projects, and internships. Faculty and students appreciate the small class sizes and close relationships they develop. All of our 80-100 history majors are required to engage in a senior capstone projecta 25-30 page thesis based on primary source research and integration of secondary source materialsa rigorous endeavor that provides students with the opportunity to learn about, and participate in, the historical field
Position Summary
The History Department at the University of Denver invites applications for an open-rank, full-time, tenure-track appointment in Native American or Indigenous history, period open. The search will consider scholars whose work focuses on North America as well as those who use comparative frameworks in relation to North America. We are especially interested in candidates from underrepresented groups as well as individuals who have experience working with diverse student populations.
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will teach a broad range of introductory- and upper-level courses to history majors and the undergraduate population at DU. The successful candidate will also guide undergraduate theses on a broad variety of topics, including in Native American or Indigenous history.
Required Qualifications
- ABD in a related field, with a Ph.D. required by Fall 2019.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a related field.
- University teaching experience.
