Job Description: Area and Global Studies, an academic unit in The Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Grand Valley State University, invites applications for a one-year visiting professorship in Global Studies and Social Impact (GSI). We seek qualified candidates who can contribute to this new program through their teaching. Areas of expertise could include: global inequality, migration, trans-nationalism, global health, global communication, environment/sustainability, human rights, gender, race or ethnicity. A successful applicant must be committed to excellence in teaching undergraduate level students.
Required:
- ABD
- Ability to teach GSI core courses
- Demonstrated success in teaching about global issues
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Global Studies
- Ability to contribute to an additional existing interdisciplinary program within the college, particularly area programs in Middle East Studies, East Asian Studies, African/African American Studies, Latin American and Latino/a Studies, or topical areas in Digital Studies minor
- Demonstrated local or global community engagement with global issues
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach four three-credit hour courses during each of the Fall and Winter semesters, among them being introductory courses for the Global Studies and Social Impact program. Visiting faculty members are expected to demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching.
