Within this setting, the Department of History offers Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in history and a graduate certificate in Public History. The department has 38 faculty members with diverse fields of expertise. The average upper-division class size is 25 students, ensuring that students receive one-on-one attention and develop strong working relationships with faculty. The Limited-Term Instructor of History will contribute to the Department’s mission by teaching core classes in World and American History.
Position Description. Reporting to the department chair, the limited-term instructor requires candidates to be able to teach 5 survey sections of World and/or American History each term. All limited-term positions are non-tenure track, academic (9/10 month) year appointments. Appointments are for one year only, although there is the possibility of reappointment should funding permit and based upon satisfactory performance. (All reappointments are made on a one year basis.) The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications:
• Earned master’s degree in History, or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in History, by August 1, 2018.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in History.
• Experience teaching college survey classes.
Screening of applications begins July 15, and continues until the position is filled. The preferred position starting date is August 1, 2018.
