Job Description:
The History Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a full time Lecturer in Modern American History. We are seeking talented applicants with experience teaching and working with undergraduate student populations. The History Department is committed to the career development of non-tenure-track faculty and provides them with professional development funds in addition to salary and other standard benefits.
The successful candidate will teach three courses (two preparations) per semester. Responsibilities will also include service centered on mentoring and advising undergraduate students. While we are open to all fields, we are particularly interested in candidates who could teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas: women’s history, foreign relations and diplomatic history, the Vietnam War, and social movements.
This is a full-time (9-month) non-tenure-track position beginning September 1, 2018. It is non-renewable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History or expect to have one awarded by September 1, 2018, and must provide evidence of teaching excellence, strong commitment to undergraduate education, ability to work with diverse populations/students, and experience mentoring/advising undergraduates.
