Samford University's Howard College of Arts and Sciences invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of instructor/assistant professor in the Department of History beginning August 2018. This position is a temporary full-time, one-year appointment and has a three-course-per-semester teaching load.
Qualified candidates will hold a Ph.D. degree in History, but ABD will be considered. Candidates should be enthusiastic about contributing to a two-semester western ideas/core text sequence or in the freshman writing program. In addition, the successful candidates will teach a mix of introductory and upper-division history courses. Specialty open with a preference for a broadly trained historian of Latin America with additional teaching interests in other fields, including Europe or Native Americans. The departmental teaching philosophy is rooted in liberal arts. Candidates must be willing to support the university’s Christian mission.
