The History Department of the College of Charleston invites applications for a visiting assistant professorship in History to begin the Fall semester of 2018. Position is for one year. The successful candidate will teach one course per semester in area of specialty as well as sections of the 100-level general education requirement each semester, i.e., pre-modern history (pre-1500) and/or modern history (post-1500). These classes are organized thematically, around the professor’s academic interests where appropriate. Preference is for candidates who can teach Latin American history, but applicants in all fields are welcome. All requirements for the Ph.D. in History must be completed at the time of appointment. The College of Charleston is the nation’s 13th-oldest institution of higher learning and is located in the heart of historic Charleston, South Carolina.
