The Dickinson College Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and American Studies departments seek candidates for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2018. Candidates should have the Ph.D. in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or American Studies, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach core courses as well as topics courses in both fields. Specifically, candidates will need to teach Intro to WGSS, Intro to Sexuality Studies and a WGSS transnational elective as part of the 5-course teaching load for the year. Proficiency in creating inclusive learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body will be an important characteristic of the successful candidate. Area of research specialization is open.
The Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and American Studies interdisciplinary curricula enable students to develop a rich and complex understanding of the range of gendered experiences, underscoring differences based on class, race, culture, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, age, and sexual identity.
Dickinson College is a four-year, independent liberal arts college with 2300 students. It is located 20 minutes west of Harrisburg, PA, and is a two-hour drive from Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia.
