The Department of History invites applications for a nine-month appointment as a Teaching Assistant Professor in History. This non-tenure track faculty position will begin August 13, 2018. The faculty member will teach a 4-4 load. Area of specialization is open, but the position requires teaching introductory courses in ECU’s multidisciplinary African and African American Studies Program. Service to the university, community, and profession is expected.
The Department of History in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences at East Carolina University is composed of 23 full-time faculty members. It offers a BA degree in History, a minor in History, a minor in Public History, MA in History, and MA in Maritime Studies. The Department also maintains a close relationship with the multidisciplinary studies major in African and African American Studies, which is also housed in the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences.
East Carolina University is located in Greenville, North Carolina, a rapidly growing city of approximately 90,000. Greenville is located about 80 miles east of Raleigh and is within a short drive to the Outer Banks and other Atlantic Ocean beaches. In 2012, Greenville was ranked in the top ten of Forbes Magazine’s “Best Small Places for Business and Careers.” Greenville is known as the health, entertainment and educational hub of eastern North Carolina.
