Associate Professorship in Archaeology (963826)
|Institution Type:||College / University|
The Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at the School of Culture and Society, Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University and Moesgaard Museum invite applications for a joint associate professorship in archaeology. The position is open to all fields of archaeology but is associated with particular responsibilities for developing the link between the two institutions. The position will be a tenured and full-time position, shared equally between Aarhus University and Moesgaard Museum.
The position is available from 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Place of employment: Moesgård, Moesgård Alle, 8270 Højbjerg, Denmark.
The Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies and Moesgaard Museum emphasise high-quality research and attach great importance to interdisciplinary collaboration, participation in interdisciplinary research projects, and the ability to attract external research funding. The department and museum both have a strong base in empirical investigations and build on a tradition of quantitative and scientific analysis, but also emphasise theoretical concerns within and across periods. Generally, our geographical focus is in Northern Europe, although the activities of this region are always viewed in a wider European and indeed global context. Moesgaard Museum and the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies are already closely integrated and share office space and facilities at the Moesgaard Manor south of Aarhus.
We are seeking an innovative and dedicated candidate who will strengthen the strategic cooperation between Aarhus University and Moesgaard Museum, and who will contribute to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange. At Moesgaard Museum the position will include responsibilities for the development and coordination of the archaeological research profile of the museum. Applicants who are willing and able to participate in collaborative research projects will be preferred.
Application deadline: 19/3/2018
