The Department of History at The College of Idaho invites applications from engaging and passionate teachers for a two-year visiting assistant professor in US history beginning in fall 2018, with a possibility of renewal for two additional years. Teaching load is 3-1-3 and specialization is open.
The successful candidate will teach U.S. and Civilization surveys and a range of upper-division courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization and interest. The department values candidates who have experience in working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
A strong commitment to undergraduate Liberal Arts education and demonstrated successful teaching experience is essential. A PhD in History, Public History, or American Studies at the time of appointment is required.
The College of Idaho values personal attention and collegiality, thus a familiarity with and understanding of a small and residential campus are highly desirable. A sincere interest in students, excellent communication skills, and support of the College’s mission are also required.

The College is located on a beautiful campus in Caldwell, a community of 50,000 located in Idaho’s vibrant Treasure Valley. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.
