Post Doctoral Fellowship (Regional Studies)

The United States Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, seeks to fill a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with regional studies expertise in the Department of National Security and Strategy (DNSS) in the School of Strategic Landpower with an annual salary between $48,777 and $53,866. Fellowships provide up to one year of support for individuals to conduct research after attainment of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. Duration of the fellowships is 9 to 12 months, beginning no earlier than 1 July 2018, and no later than 1 September 2018. Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension to a second year depending on the needs of the institution, performance, and availability of funds. This is a fulltime civilian faculty position at the US Army’s most senior institution for professional military education. The Army War College educates the top echelon of US military officers of all services, US government civilians, and military officers from scores of foreign countries. It develops strategic leaders by providing a rigorous curriculum of theoretical and professional subjects, leading to a Master’s of Strategic Studies accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Postdoctoral fellows serve in the capacity of junior faculty and contribute to research and teaching at the U.S. Army War College. Principal duties of this position include conducting research on issues related to the fellow’s area of expertise under the guidance of a senior faculty member; publishing articles; assisting in the planning and conducting of student-faculty research activities; teach selected lessons in the core curriculum or co-teach an elective under the guidance of a DNSS faculty member; conduct lectures and present research findings at academic conferences or other professional venues.
