The Department of History at Loyola University Maryland has revised and expanded its previous search announcement. We seek applicants for a tenure-track assistant professorship in European history (post-1700, including Russia and excluding Germany). Specialty open, but we are particularly interested in individuals working in the subfields of environmental, gender, urban, or migration/ethnic history. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching, the promise of significant scholarship, and a commitment to service. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, and the successful candidate will teach a 100-level introductory survey of modern Europe and a rotating sequence of upper-division undergraduate courses in her or his area/specialty. Participation in Loyola's Global Studies program is likely. Appointment will begin in August 2018. Ph.D. is expected by that date.
