Assistant Professor of Public History
The College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of public history in any field complementary to the department beginning August 2018.
The candidate must be able to teach survey courses in service to the University’s core curriculum, possibly courses in service to other developing programs like cultural heritage studies, as well as a rotation of upper-level courses in public history in service to the history major. Preference will be given to candidates with work-related experience in the field of public history.
The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D., preferably in the field of public history, or in history; exhibit scholarly and creative promise; possess a record of university teaching experience in public history; and demonstrate a willingness and/or ability to engage with our local and regional resources and institutions. The typical course load in the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts is 21 credit hours per academic year or the equivalent with due consideration and adjustment made for the demands of individualized instruction, experiential learning, and other high-impact teaching practices. The University offers support for professional development and scholarly activity both on and off campus and values community engagement as an element of the faculty role.
