The Assistant Director works under the leadership of the Director of the African Studies Center (ASC). S/he works with the Director and Program Administrator to manage the day-to-day operations of the Center and coordinate academic programs. Responsible for overseeing African Studies Center (ASC) grants, including managing, monitoring, and reporting for Title VI and other grants, and assisting with new grant applications and management. Works with the directors of the African Language Program, Outreach, Library, and Publications to ensure effective and smooth running of each unit of the center. Coordinates programming, including lectures, research fellow and visiting scholar programs, academic offerings, and linkages with African universities and other African and American institutions. Serves as a liaison with ASC affiliated faculty, students, alumni, government agencies, and the community, and coordinates communications, including updating website and publishing alumni newsletter. Works with the Director and Associate Director for Development to develop new programs for the Center, including research projects, new curricular offerings, and overseas linkages and exchanges. The Assistant Director also supervises the Program Administrator’s overall work. Liason with the Pardee School’s Senior Manager.
