The Department of History at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate professor. These positions begin August 1, 2018.
The first position is in pre-1900 African-American History, with a preference for the history of slavery (#126530). The successful candidate will be expected to teach American History surveys, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in African-American History and other areas of the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to MTSU’s new program in Africana Studies.
The second position is in nineteenth-century US history with a specialization in the Civil War era (#401085). The successful candidate will be expected to teach American History surveys, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students in our nationally recognized public history program.
Both positions require a PhD in History or closely related field by appointment date. An active research agenda is expected.
