The Department of History at Auburn University seeks to make a tenure-track appointment in the history of War and Society, specializing in the United States, at the rank of assistant professor. The appointment will begin August 16, 2018. The appointee will teach the Technology and Civilization core curriculum sequence, an upper-level undergraduate survey course in world military history, and undergraduate and graduate courses in the appointee’s specific area of expertise. Ph.D. in history prior to employment date is desired, but we will consider outstanding candidates who are in the final stages of their doctoral candidacy. Note, however, that appointment to the tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor requires the doctorate be completed by August 16, 2018.
