The Department of History at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of U.S. military history, broadly conceived. The successful candidate must anticipate completion of the Ph.D. by July 2018, have a research concentration in U.S. military history, and be prepared to teach specialized and survey courses. The Department of History supports the principle of inclusive excellence. Candidates are expected to have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including working with students and groups from underrepresented backgrounds. We are interested in candidates with a focus on the strategic, political, ideological, economic, and/or social dimensions of the subject. Candidates should have experience doing archival research and indicate ability and desire to do research at the United States National Archives in College Park, located a mile from the campus.
