The Department of History and Classics at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in twentieth-century African American history beginning fall 2018. As our student body grows increasingly diverse, experience and commitment to teaching and mentoring students from a range of economic, social, cultural backgrounds is preferred. Scholars whose research places the African American experience in an interdisciplinary, comparative, and/or transnational perspective are particularly welcome. Competence to teach in the Development of Western Civilization program as part of the regular teaching load is required. Experience in interdisciplinary and/or team-teaching is desirable. Ph.D. from an accredited institution by date of appointment is required.
