Postdoctoral Researcher in Buddhist Studies

The Faculty of Humanities at Leiden University invites applications for a fulltime postdoctoral researcher (4 years) in Buddhist Studies.
The researcher will edit and critically study one or more of the sūtras in the Mahāratnakūṭa collection of Mahāyāna sūtras in Chinese, Tibetan and, as appropriate, Sanskrit. She/he will contribute to the concept design of a database which will provide the materials for alignment of the Tibetan and Chinese translations of this Mahāratnakūṭa collection, and will contribute to this alignment itself. For the design of the database, researchers will work together with IT specialists and the PI (Silk). 30% of this appointment will be dedicated to teaching.
The postholder will have high level knowledge of the relevant Buddhist languages, optimally Chinese, Tibetan and Sanskrit.
