Kathmandu University, Centre for Buddhist Studies at Rangjung Yeshe Institute invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, teaching position in Buddhist Studies and classical Tibetan starting on August 15, 2017. There is the possibilty of extension through the summer of 2018: if so, this will be a 12-month appointment.
The instructor will teach undergraduate courses in Buddhist Studies and graduate seminars in Tibetan language for the MA program in Translation, Textual Interpretation, and Philology. The total teaching load per 14-week semester is 3 courses.
Candidates should hold a PhD or be an ABD currently enrolled as a PhD candidate, be fluent in classical Tibetan with experience in Buddhist Sanskrit, and have teaching experience in Buddhist Studies. In addition, it is desirable to have proficiency in spoken Tibetan and to have some familiarity with contemporary Tibetan cultural topics.
In addition to the teaching salary, benefits include round-trip transportation to Kathmandu and a Nepalese visa. Salary is dependent upon experience.
