Temporary Assistant Professor in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (African Studies) (Ref.: 201700362)
Applications are invited for appointment as temporary Assistant Professor in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (African Studies), to commence on September 1, 2017 for a period of one year.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree, and have undertaken original research that has contributed to the body of knowledge in a relevant field related to African Art History and African Studies. They should also have a record of research and publication commensurate with the career stage.
The appointee must contribute to teaching four credit-bearing courses in any of the following areas: African Art History; West African Art; Central African Art; East African Art; traditional and non-traditional methodologies and criticism in African Art History; Modern/Contemporary African Art; African cultures; African literature; and African cinema. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee’s qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. Please note that the University is not able to offer a relocation assistance package (including temporary University housing accommodation and a passage and baggage allowance) to the successful candidate recruited from overseas.
