The Middle East Studies Librarian serves as chief bibliographer for the selection and acquisition of library materials from and about the Middle East, in a wide range of subjects and topics and primarily in Arabic, Persian and Turkish. Supervises the processing of such materials upon receipt, including complex description and cataloging according to national standards and technologies; provides specialized reference services, instruction and consultations with scholars from both the Penn community and elsewhere; and maintains a seminar room with its own collection and teaching/lecture facilities.
