Rockford University seeks candidates for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in history, appointment effective Fall 2017. The successful candidate will have a strong background in both European and non-Western (i.e. not European or U.S.) history. Responsibilities include teaching the Western Civilization survey, introductory and upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of specialty, and courses in service to the major. Time period of specialization is open.
Excellent teaching ability is a must and candidates need an educational philosophy compatible with a private, independent institution and liberal arts-based curriculum. Teaching load is 12 credits per semester and applicants must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by the date of appointment. Participation in the University’s scholarly community, as well as service activities at the University, and in the larger local community is also expected of the successful candidate.
