The Russian Studies Workshop at Indiana University’s School of Global and International Studies invites applications for two Postdoctoral fellowships. The fellowships begin either January 1, 2017 or August 1, 2017, depending on the applicant’s schedule, and are for up to three academic semesters, until June 1, 2018. Applications from Social Science disciplines (including History) are welcome, and citizens of the Russian Federation are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants should have active research programs on Russian politics (domestic or foreign) and/or society while contributing to disciplinary debates. Requirements: Each fellow will teach two courses during the fellowship period. Fellows are expected to maintain a vigorous research program during the fellowship, contribute to the development of a biweekly Russian Studies Workshop (RSW), and actively participate in the RSW. Fellows are required to be in residence in Bloomington, Indiana.
Applicants should be scholars conducting research in Russian politics and society while contributing to disciplinary debates. Special consideration will be given to scholars who have conducted extensive field research and have strong Russian language skills. Applicants should have active research programs on Russian politics (domestic or foreign) and/or society. Fellowships are open to scholars who have received the Ph.D. or Kandidat degree in the relevant discipline after July 31, 2011.
Applicants must have completed all their degree requirements (completed and deposited the dissertation) at least one month before beginning the postdoctoral fellowship.
All applicants are required to submit the following:
● Curriculum Vitae.
● Research proposal: 2-3 page statement describing the research project the applicant would pursue at Indiana University if awarded a fellowship, indicating its relation (if any) to the Ph.D. or kandidat’s dissertation.
● A writing sample, such as an article or dissertation chapter.
● Teaching statement: 1-2 page statement outlining the applicant’s teaching experience and teaching philosophy. Applicant should describe 2 or 3 courses (undergraduate, or joint upper-level undergraduate and graduate) they would like to teach at Indiana University. Strong applications will include sample syllabi of courses the applicant has previously taught and/or proposes to teach at Indiana University.
● Letters of recommendation: 3 letters of reference that include an evaluation of the applicant’s research. At least one letter should evaluate the applicant’s teaching qualification.
All application materials (including letters of reference) must be received on or before December 10, 2016.
Awards will be announced as soon as possible after the deadline.
