The Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University invites applications for a new Chair in Canadian-Scottish Studies at the rank of assistant or associate professor (tenure-track position), effective 1 August 2017. The Chair will ensure that the role of the Scots in Montreal, Quebec, and Canada will be a focus of academic work. The Chair will undertake new research on Canadian-Scottish heritage, history and culture, create outreach activities in Montreal and Quebec that promote education and dialogue on the role of the Scots in Canada, and train the next generation of Canadian-Scottish scholars.
The successful applicant is expected to hold a Ph.D. in History or a related field at the time of appointment and, in addition to an innovative research portfolio, is expected to show promise of excellence in teaching. The successful applicant will teach at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate program.
