The Department of Political Science and Sociology at the European University at Saint-Petersburg is opening a position in Quantitative Sociology. The position is open rank. Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and show a record or promise of publication in English-language peer-reviewed journals.
The primary responsibility of the professor will be teaching graduate-level courses in quantitative research methods (from introductory to advanced). Knowledge of social network analysis, multi-agent modeling, and practical experience with Big Data will be considered an advantage. Substantive fields may include, but are not limited to social stratification, sociology of health and medicine, law and criminology, sociology of science and culture, and urban sociology.
The EUSP is a private social science university which enrolls around 100 of Russia’s best social science and humanities graduate students per year. In spite of its small size, it enjoys a high reputation in Russia and abroad. The benefits of working include low teaching loads and an audience of dedicated graduate students. The initial contract is for three years with further extension subject to review. Salary is negotiable.
