Yale-NUS College, a collaboration between the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Yale University, invites applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in History. The successful applicant will be a modern historian, who works on connected and transnational histories of continental Europe in the wider world. Geographical interest in Asia is desirable but not required. History at Yale-NUS is developing strength in global history, through such fields as empire, diaspora, circulation and networks, citizenship and nationalities, transnational cultures of war, and the environment.
Applicants should have a relevant PhD and be active researchers with a commitment to creative and effective undergraduate teaching and mentoring within their specialties. The incoming faculty member would join a committed team dedicated to the development and teaching of the History Major and Yale-NUS’s flagship Common Curriculum (see http://www.yale-nus.edu.sg/curriculum/common-curriculum).
The appointee will be expected to begin their duties in time for the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. Salary, benefits, and leave policies will be competitive at an international level. A first round of interviews for short listed applicants will be held at the American Historical Association Annual Meeting in Denver, 5-8 January 2017. Those who are unable to attend the meeting will be interviewed via Skype.
