The Ruhr-Universität Bochum – Faculty of History – invites applications for a
Junior Professorship (W1) for the History of Medieval Cultural Areas and their Entanglements
to start on 01 April 2017.
Applicants will be able to cover the field of Medieval History with a focus on a particular cultural area. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the History Institute’s fields of research, in particular Mediterranean Studies, in both research and teaching.
Requirements for the position include an excellent PhD/Dissertation and evidence of special aptitude for academic teaching as well as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB. In addition, applicants are required to be enthusiastic about teaching, to contribute to the relevant research projects and to work within an interdisciplinary and international context. A further requirement is the willingness and ability to acquire third party funding and to supervise PhD candidates.
