The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Yale University intends to make a tenure track, early or advanced junior appointment begining July1, 2017. Inventive scholarly work on literature and culture in the context of race and ethnicity studies, the natural sciences, social and political thought, gender and sexuality studies, or the history of ideas between 1850 and the present are encouraged. Alternative approaches and research focuses are welcomed. Teaching will include undergraduate and graduate courses in literature and culture, and applicants should be able to contribute to an interdisciplinary curriculum that also includes literary theory and the intersection of literature with philosophy, history, the sciences and media studies.
