Florida Gulf Coast University is hiring an Assistant Professor of U.S. history. The successful candidate will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; conduct research/scholarship; and participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Required qualifications include:
Ph.D. in History from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation with a specialization in one or more of the following fields: U.S. pre-1877; African-American History; American Indian History; Borderlands History.
Experience teaching in higher education with evidence of a student-centered focus.
Commitment to quality teaching and pedagogical innovation.
Evidence of ongoing scholarship agenda.
Ability to teach both sections of the U.S. survey course as well as upper-level and graduate courses in area of expertise.
Ability to teach courses in Florida history.
ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2017. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.
Preferred Qualifications include:
Established record of publication.
Demonstrated commitment to mentorship of student research.
Job Duties include:
Teaching U.S. survey courses as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization (3/3 load).
Mentoring students, including supporting undergraduate research.
Serving on master’s thesis committees.
Conducting scholarship leading to publication of peer-reviewed articles and monographs.
Providing service to the university, community and/or discipline.
