~~The French & Italian Department at Vanderbilt University invites applications for an open-rank professor of nineteenth-century French Studies. Evidence of scholarly excellence is required; research interests and discipline are open. We especially welcome applications from candidates with interests and expertise in the Francophone world, French cultural politics, and French romanticism in any of its varieties and forms. Relevance of research to Vanderbilt’s Bandy Center for Baudelaire and Modern French Studies and the Hervé Vilez Verlaine Collection is welcomed but not required. Senior applicants will be expected to assume active leadership in the unit. Junior applicants must have Ph.D. in hand by August 2017.
